Abstract

The intention of this experiment was to conclude the curative impact of Syzigium cumuni seed powder on body mass and litters count of F1 male generation obtained when diabetic male mice were mated with normal females .Drug Alloxan Monohydrate was injected into male mice to conduce hyperglycemic condition. This leads to deficiency in insulin dissimulation in the mice followed by offsprings of F1 generation, obtained after mating diabetic male with normal female. Significant decrease in the body masses and litters count were observed in generation of F1 male mice. Fixed dose of Syzigium cumuni seed powder were given along with food to F1 generation. Litters count were observed at successive generations and body masses were also noticed at a regular intervals of 7th, 14th and 21st day. Body mass and litters count were observed to be towards normal after giving Syzigium cumuni seed powder along with their food. Syzigium cumuni seed powder also restores the histoarchitecture of pancreatic β cells and provokes the secretion of pancreatic insulin in F1 generation of male mice. Hyperglycemia may influence the epigenetic modifications during spermatogenesis and these epigenetic alterations cannot be normalized by providing normal diet implying that these changes were trangenerational and may be inherited through male germ line and passed onto more than one generations. In near future, transgenerational /epigenetic factors may be regarded as an important aspect in evaluating risk of diabetes. Finally, our result showed that the Syzigium cumuni seed powder has therapeutic impact in improvement of body mass and litters count in generation obtained from diabetic male subjects .
