Abstract

Effect of copper sulphate oncertain blood parameters of Heteropneustes fossilis was analysed. The R.B.C. number was reduced from 3.02 + 0.60 to 1.0 + 0.2 million/cu. mm after five days of copper sulphate stress. The total protein also reduced from 8.0+0.16 to 4.8+0.8 g/dl whereas W.B.C. number, haemoglobin, blood sugar, urea, seruncholesterol and bilirubin exhibited an elevation from control values. During recovery, the number of R.B.C. was quite low (1.95 it 0.1 million/cu.mm) and the total protein was 3.2 g/dl. The remaining parameterseven after 5 days of recovery exhibited sufficiently higher values than those of control.
