NUTRIENTS AND BARELY SEED SPROUT EXTRACT APPLICATION EFFECTS ON GROWTH OF CITRUS ROOTSTOCKS GROWN DIFFERENT SOIL MIXTURE

This study was conducted in the greenhouse of the nursery of Horticulture Research Institute, Giza- Egypt, on Sour orange, Volkamer lemon and Carrizo citrange rootstocks seedling during the growing seasons of 2018 and 2019. The aims are to assess the influence of using element nutrients solution, barely seed sprout extract and grown in different soil mediums on growth and rootstocks mineral content of those rootstocks.

The obtained results showed an improvement in the vegetative growth characteristics. Moreover, seedlings treated with barely seed sprout under sand-peat moss soil mixture showed the highest significant performance of most growth parameters as stem length, stem diameter, leaf area and number of leaves. Leaves nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content increased significantly with the application of barely seed sprout and nutrient element solution especially on Volkameriana rootstock. Therefore, it is recommended to use barely seed sprout extract and element nutrient solution to produce the healthy seedling in short time for grafting.
