Abstract

Wedelia chinensis plant is closely related to Eclipta alba and it is very specific for viral hepatitis. In vitro shoot multiplication from nodal and shoot tip explants was achieved on MS media containing BAP, Kn, IBA and IAA. The BAP and IBA combination produced maximum number of shoolets and IBA was found to be best for producing roots. TLC studies of Ethyl acetate soluble fraction showed the presence of WDL in both natural and in vitro propagated plants. WDL and DWDL were estimated in methanolic extract by HPLC analysis. Content of DWDL was increased by three folds in shoot lets produced on MS media with BAP (2.0 mg/l)+IBA(0.5 mg/l) using nodal explants.
