Abstract

Under nutrition is the most burning problem in present time in India and other developing countries. According to WHO, 144 million children under the age of five years of age were shunted and 47 million were wasted in all over world in 2019. The deficiency of nutrients hinders the pace of growth and development of a child. Food is made up of essential natural substances called nutrients. Body needs around 50 nutrients on daily basis to stay healthy. Nutrients are categorized as micronutrient and macronutrient; they all work together to maintain overall health. In Ayurved under nutrition can be co-related with Karshya. Ayurved, the science of life, emphasizes on preventive and curative aspect both but initially prefers preventive health rather than curative aspect. Aahara, Nidra and Abrahmacharya are known as trayopastambha described in Ayurved is quite essential to maintain the health. Aahara is an essential pillar for sustainable health of the body. Many health issues can be treated through nutrition. Karshya is one of them. In Acharya Charka described Karshya under Asthaninditiyapurusha in twenty-one chapters in sutra Sthan in his well-known book Charka Samhita. To keep these things in brain author, make an attempt to explore etiopathogenesis, clinical feature with its management of karshya in ray of Ayurved with proper evidence in today prospective.
